Quarter horse


The Quater horses were the first breed in the united states more than 300 years ago. They grow up to about 14-16hh. They originate from Virginia in the USA. They can be any solid colour. They are used for Riding, cattle herding, racing and rodeo. They are normally agile and intelligent. The quarter horse has been called the worlds favorite horse. Quarter horses are known for their use in rodeos.

Akhal-Teke


The Akhal teke is known for its beautiful metallic coat, The classic Akhal-teke is a hot blood. They grow up to around 14.3-16hh. They originate from Turkmenisan. They can be Metallic gold, bay, grey, chestnut, black or palomino. They are used for long distance racing,show jumping and dressage. They are usually courageous ad strong. In 1935 the strength and power of the Akhal-tekes was proved when Turkish horsemen rode a group for 4000km in just  84 days.

Highland


The highland is the largest of the native British ponies. They grow up to 13-14.2hh. They originate from Scotland. They are usually brown, black, dun or grey. They are used for general every day riding, driving or trekking. Most are hard working and strong. In highland ponies judges expect to see full flowing manes and silky feathers on the back of their legs.

Fallabella


The Falabella is one of the worlds smallest breeds and also one of the rarest. They grow up to around 7-8.2hh. They originate from Argentina. They can be any colour. They are used for showing. Falabellas were first developed by the Falabella family. They bread a small Shetland pony with a small through bread horse. Falabellas have 12-13 month long pregnancies which is two months longer than most other ponies. Foals reach their full height when they are two.

Shetland pony


The Shetland pony is very popular around the world. They are one of the smallest breeds of pony along with the fallabella(see post on the 19th of december) They grow up to about 42 inches(107cm). Shetlads are measured in inches and centimeters not hands. They originate from the shetland iles in scotland. They come in every colour except pink,blue and green, They can be one colour such as bay,grey,black or chestnut or muticoloured such as piebald or strew bald. They are used for driving genral riding or showing, there is even a shetland pony grand national. Most are strong and intelligent.

Through breads


Through breads are bread for their impressive speed, they are the fastest horse in the world but not only that they are also regarded as the best riding horse.They grow to be around 15.2-16.2hh. They along with the Anglo Arab originate from England. They are never piebald or strew bald they are only solid colours such as: Bay, chestnut, grey or black. They are usually high spirited and very athletic. Many through breads have been made well known by taking part in races.

Anglo-Arab


The Anglo-Arab is a cross between an Arab (see the post on Sunday 12th of December) and a through bread ( see the post on the 18th of December) The Arab giving it elegance and strength but on the other hand the though bread gives it speed and intelligence. They normally grow to about 15.2-16.3hh. They originate fro England. They are usually: Chestnut, brown, bay or Grey. They are used for Ridding(on hacks, endurance or schooling) they are also used for showjumping, dressage and long distance racing. They can do a bit of everything. Most are intelligent and very fast. Anglo Arabs are popular for endurance racing, during races they may cover distances of up to 80 kilometres a day.

Hackney Horse/Warmblood


Hackneys are the worlds best known carriage horse. They grow up to 14.2-16.2hh. They originate from England. They can be any colour but most are bay, chestnut and black. They are used to pull carriages they are sprightly and energetic. They are also ponies and horses. Hackney horses are usually seen in shows in harnesses pulling carts and traps. They are best known for their elegant floating trot action they raise their knees high and pause between each stride.

The dutch warmblood is one of the worlds youngest breeds or new breed. They grow to around 15.3-16.3hh. They originate from the Netherlands, They are usually these colours: Black, brown, bay, chestnut or grey.They are normally used for show jumping or dressage. They are usually tough and live for a long time. They are very strong and resistant to health problems.

Connemara ponies are very sturdy but also gentle ponies they are good with both children and adults. They grow to around 12.2-14.2hh.They originate from Ireland. They come in these colours: Grey, Dun, chestnut, bay,roan,brown, black.They are normally used for flat riding and eventing. Most of them are friendly and very intelligent.

Arab


Arabian horses are one of the oldest known breeds.They grow up to around 14.2-15hh.They origonate from the Arabian peninsular.They are usually: Grey, chestnut or bay brown or black are rare. They are usually raced or used for showing.Arabs were raced through the deserts of the middle east. Most of them are high spirited and intelligent. Most horses came from the arab blood line.

The Welsh section B is also known as the welsh pony. They normally grow up to around 12.2-13.2hh, It origonates from wales. It can be any colour and their caricteristics are usually good natured and strong. There are 4 types of Welsh pony: Section A / Welsh mountain
